PUM Upgrades

Each year, the SMART system is upgraded to the latest release of the Oracle PeopleSoft Financials software. The system remains on Version 9.2, but receives a series of packages that contain fixes and patches collectively called "Images" and also sometimes referred to as "PUMs" after the PeopleSoft Update Manager tool used to apply the upgrades.

The annual upgrade is scheduled to begin in July after fiscal year-end activities are completed and go-live sometime during the month of December. Details about each year's upgrade will be provided via SMART announcements, also called "blasts," and at agency meetings such as ASTRA. Documents containing a summary of the changes from each upgrade will be stored on this page for user reference.

SMART 9.2 Upgrade Information

Sarah Gigous, Director of the Office of Systems Management within the Department of Administration, announced at the November 13, 2014, ASTRA meeting that hosting of the SMART, SHaRP and Oracle Business Intelligence reporting systems will be transitioned to Sierra-Cedar, Inc. over the course of the next year.  While the impact of the hosting will not directly affect the agencies or work processes, the State of Kansas will no longer house or maintain the technical infrastructure required to support the PeopleSoft software.

Also announced was the start of the upgrade of the SMART system from PeopleSoft Financials 9.0 to version 9.2.
